Hi, my name is
Juna Franka!

I am an artist and author based in Leipzig, Germany, and so glad to have you here.

I want to raise awareness for the fact that not all disabilities are visible.

Here you'll learn more about how my dog Eliot helps me daily, supports me in difficult situations and how our journey together continues.

Why Eliot is being trained as a service dog

How you can support us

Training a service dog on your own is a process over years and tied to high costs. Moreover, specialized trainers are rare, which makes the process more strength, time and money consuming.

If you want to support our journey, you can go to our GoFundMe page below. Thank you so much!

Every kind of support helps so much! Thank you!

Every euro counts.

By purchasing art on canvas or paper from me you support Eliot's training directly.

Do you know someone this would resonate with?

How much is the training?

In total training a dog to become a service dog is five-digit euro range.

  • training lessons (€95/hour, 60 required by law)

  • qualification test (€350)

  • medical test (€1,200)

  • necessary gear, e.g. identification vest (ca.€250)

  • examination fees (€2,500)

  • Public Access Test (€200)

  • call-out fees

  • training lessons to refresh and correct in the next 10 years

To confidently be able to start the first training phase, I'm raising €5,000.

Should part or all of it be financed, I will use donations to account for existing additional costs with regard to raising a service dog.

Transparency is important to me - I will update you on our journey here.

What has happened so far:

JANUARY 2025:

search for a suitable puppy - how exciting, it's starting

FEBRUARY 2025:

Eliot moves in at 10 weeks of age and shows promising skills and suitability early on

SPRING 2025:

Socializing Stage: Eliot learns so much about places and situations he'll encounter later on (workplace, train, tram, train station, bike, city center, crowds, other dogs, new places, doctors' offices,...)

SUMMER 2025:

research and conversations with experts about the topic and procedure;

search for a specialized trainer close to home proves difficult;

encouragement not to give up through wonderful encounters

FALL 2025:

consultation with two specialized trainers, who live farther away and would mean more time and money;

continued self-training with focused exercises for service dogs - I'm trying to foster Eliot as best as I can without making too many mistakes (training a service dog is often contrary to raising a pet dog)

FEBRUARY 2026:

relief about contact with nearby trainer I finally found;

Eliot is now almost 15 months and could start specialized training;

support from the trainer would be so important right now and a big relief - we are supposed to meet soon

MARCH 2026:

appeal for donations is a challenge for me and makes me so grateful

to be continued...
